Como chega o Londrina?

Darren Moore’s Sheffield Wednesday could be set to lose Osaze Urhoghide this summer.

What’s the talk?

That’s according to the well-connected Yorkshire Live reporter Dom Howson, who recently claimed in a Q&A on the Yorkshire Live website that he is not confident of the Owls being able to convince the 20-year-old centre-back to stay remain at Hillsborough beyond the current season.

He said: “I would like to see them tie Urhoghide down to a new deal but I am less confident now he is going to stay.”

While Sheffield Wednesday’s Championship campaign has been one that most fans would rather forget, one of the few bright sparks coming from Hillsborough this season has been Urhoghide.

Despite the defender’s tender age, since featuring in the starting XI on a regular basis for the Owls back in January, the £270,000-rated youngster has turned in a number of highly impressive performances – earning a SofaScore match rating of 7.3 in the 2-0 win over Wycombe Wanderers, a 7.4 rating in the 1-0 loss to Stoke City and a 7.2 rating in the 2-1 win against Barnsley.

Over his total number of 16 Championship appearances this term, Urhoghide has helped his side to keep three clean sheets and has made an average of 1.6 interceptions, 1.8 tackles and 2.7 clearances per game.

These metrics would be impressive at the best of times, however, considering the former AFC Wimbledon player has been thrown into a side who are fighting for their lives at the wrong end of the Championship table, his performances appear all the more “immense” – to quote Darren Moore.

As such, the loss of such a talented youngster this summer, particularly on a free transfer, would be devastating for Moore and Wednesday fans alike, and harks worryingly back to the deal which saw Liam Shaw agree a pre-contract deal with Celtic back in March.

So, regardless of whether the Owls retain their second-tier status on the final day of the season or not, one of Dejphon Chansiri’s primary concerns this summer should be doing whatever it takes to tie Urhoghide down to a new deal at Hillsborough – although, considering the mess the club is in at present, we would not blame the youngster for wanting to get as far away from Sheffield as possible.

Moore, given how highly he speaks of the youngster and how he’s utilised him this season, will be gutted if the defender leaves for free.

Candidato único, Maurício Galiotte foi eleito neste sábado como presidente do Palmeiras para o biênio 2017-2018. Vice e braço direito de Paulo Nobre desde 2013, o novo mandatário teve 1639 dos 1733 votos dos sócios alviverdes – 94 ficaram em branco. Por não ter adversários, ele precisava apenas de mais da metade dos votos computados na eleição. Genaro Marino, Antonino Jesse Ribeiro, Victor Fruges e José Carlos Tomaselli serão os vices no período.

O escolhido tem 47 anos e é formado em Administração de empresas pela PUC-SP. Casado, tem três filhos e é sócio do Palmeiras desde 1978. Até o fim da década de 80 jogou nas categorias de base do futsal e futebol do clube. Politicamente, sua trajetória começou em 2001, eleito como suplente para o Conselho Deliberativo e, três anos depois, na gestão de Mustafá Contursi, escolhido pela primeira para o CD de fato. Foi ainda diretor de Esportes Amadores sob o comando de Affonso Della Monica, e diretor social em 2009 e 2010, com Luiz Gonzaga Belluzzo.

O processo ocorreu de forma tranquila, bem diferente do último pleito, em 2014, quando o time brigava para não cair e havia oposição. Maurício é considerado uma figura conciliadora. Próximo de Nobre, é também ligado a Mustafá e tem o respeito de parte da oposição, que nem lançou candidato este ano.

Entre os parceiros, Galiotte também é bem avaliado. Por conta do seu perfil, o dirigente é visto por bons olhos na WTorre, construtora do Allianz Parque e, principalmente, na Crefisa.

A patrocinadora provavelmente renovará o acordo por mais uma temporada e tem ótima relação com o novo presidente. Desde que houve o atrito com Nobre, o vice tomou a frente nas conversas com Crefisa/FAM. Com ele, a expectativa é de que, além da renovação, a parceira participe da contratação de jogadores para 2017.

Maurício assume o cargo no dia 15 de dezembro e terá decisões importantes a tomar, como as renovações de Cuca e Alexandre Mattos.

PCP Capital Partners remain confident that Newcastle United’s proposed £300million takeover will go through, Chronicle Live journalist Mark Douglas reports.

They remain ‘absolutely committed’ to the deal, rebuffing any suggestions of interest in other clubs.

Meanwhile, the members of Saudi’s Arabia Public Investment Fund officially maintain they have withdrawn their interest.

But sources close to them are ‘adamant’ that they are still keen and that the process will resume if ‘a path to the takeover being completed emerges’.

Douglas’ lowdown on Newcastle takeover arbitration

That so-called ‘path’ could hinge on the decision of the independent arbitration panel, who will make a ruling on whether the PIF is separate from the Saudi government.

The Premier League determined that that was not the case.

Newcastle, Douglas adds, could still launch further legal moves if arbitration does not have the desired outcome.

The team took giant strides towards Premier League survival with a run of eight points from a possible 12 and, sharing Douglas’ words on their Twitter page, Chronicle Live claimed the takeover ‘will be the next big issue’ at the club with next season in the top flight now all but secure.

Plenty of West Ham fans have been reacting on social media to Paris Saint-Germain’s reported interest in Tomas Soucek.

According to The Athletic, the French giants are eyeing a summer swoop for the 26-year-old. However, the report added that the Hammers are readying a new and improved contract for the towering midfielder in order to fend off interest from PSG.

The Irons paid just over £14m for Soucek last year and it seems to have been an inspired piece of business.

Soucek, now valued at £36m by Transfermarkt, is on just over £67,000 per week at the London Stadium, with his current deal still having more than three years remaining.

He has been a regular under David Moyes this season, starting every Premier League game in the Irons’ unlikely push for Champions League football.
