Especialmente Renato Chaves.

Então, Abel resolveu inverter Wellington Silva e Richarlison.

Dortmund join Everton in Demiral race

An update has emerged on Everton target Merih Demiral, regarding Borussia Dortmund’s interest in his services.

What’s the talk?

According to Fabrizio Romano, Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund are preparing an offer for Everton transfer target Merih Demiral this summer.

He claims that the Italian giants Juventus value the defender at £30m (€35m), with Atalanta also said to be looking at him as a potential replacement for Cristian Romero.

Dream deal

Everton chief Marcel Brands must act swiftly to secure a deal for Demiral this summer following this update from Romano. With Dortmund and Atalanta potentially challenging the Toffees for his signature, acting quickly could be their best chance of being able to land him as the other two clubs are able to offer Champions League football next season.

This means that Demiral could choose the German or Italian side ahead of Rafa Benitez’s blues because he would not be able to play European football, initially, at Goodison Park.

However, if Everton rush in to complete a deal before Atalanta and Dortmund, then they may be able to snap him up before either of them are able to pounce.

They should do exactly that as he would be a dream addition to the squad. The 23-year-old is a proven performer at the top level, having played in the Serie A and the Champions League for Juventus. In the 2019/20 campaign, he averaged a superb WhoScored rating of 7.05 – having managed a score of 7.11 for Sassuolo the previous year. This suggests that he could arrive at Goodison Park and be good enough to excel in the Premier League, as he has shown that he can put in good performances for one of the biggest clubs in Europe.

Turkish-football.com founder Emre Sarigul once claimed that the enforcer “towers above” players and is adept on the ball. He said:

“The Turkish international towers above most players, is physical, strong in the air and surprisingly technical with the ball for such a big man. He is a natural leader and cool under pressure.”

In the Nations League for Turkey, Demiral averaged an excellent 3.6 aerial battles won per game at centre-back. This is more than any Everton player managed in the Premier League, with Michael Keane’s 3.2 the highest.

Demiral could be a quality, proven, addition to Rafa Benitez’s squad and Everton must work hard to land him ahead of Dortmund and Atalanta.

At the age of 23, he also has plenty of potential to improve over the next few years and would not arrive at the finished article, despite already competing at the top level, which should excite a coach like Benitez who likes to help player improve.

AND in other news, Brands could finally replace Gueye by landing “excellent” £34k-p/w beast for Everton…

South Africa snatch sensational last-ball victory

South Africa snatched a sensational two-wicket victory off the very last ball of their Champions Trophy Pool Three fixture against the West Indies, played at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo on Friday

Santhosh S13-Sep-2002South Africa snatched a sensational two-wicket victory off the very last ball of their Champions Trophy Pool Three fixture against the West Indies, played at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo on Friday. The celebrations in the South African dressing rooms started the minute Alan Dawson’s last-ball thick-edge ran away to the third-man fence, and the similarities to their semi-final loss against Australia in the 1999 World Cup were only too apparent. With 13 runs needed off the final over – bowled by Merv Dillon – Shaun Pollock smashed the first ball, a shin-high full-toss, over long-on for six, but departed next ball. Lance Klusener, often the finisher for South Africa, fell with three runs to be made off two balls. The sixth ball was called wide, and the bye that Nicky Boje ran anyway brought Dawson on strike. More importantly, it levelled the scores, perhaps giving Dawson the freedom to swing at that final delivery.South Africa’s run-chase was in fact hampered even before it began, the team being docked one over for a slow over-rate. Then explosive Herschelle Gibbs gifted Dillon his first of four wickets, chopping one onto his stumps. Jacques Kallis did not last long either, caught behind off Vasbert Drakes, who was making a comeback into the side after seven years. When Graeme Smith fell with the score on 61, South Africa were in trouble. But the 117-run fourth-wicket partnership between Boeta Dippenaar and Man of the Match Jonty Rhodes brought the chase back on track. The two batsmen went about their task steadily, haring up and down the track for quick runs. Shortly after the batsmen got to their fifties, though, things started to go wrong. In the 40th over, Carl Hooper dealt a double blow by removing Dippenaar (53) off a miscued pull and then Rhodes (61), who dragged an off-break back onto his stumps. Dillon exhibited considerable misery in the end overs, which made it a pity that his final over was singled out for punishment.Earlier in the day, the West Indies struggled to get off to a good start, but both Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Chris Gayle stuck around, refusing to throw their wickets away despite being at sea against tight seam bowling from Pollock and Dawson. Gayle was the first to open up, taking a six off Dawson and then three hefty fours off Allan Donald’s first over. But Donald got his own back, removing Gayle, who was to prove the top-scorer of the innings. In fact, while Gayle made 49 off 55 balls, Chanderpaul could only hit eight runs in the first 15 overs. It was no wonder, then, that Brian Lara was welcomed with loud cheers by the sparse entertainment-starved crowd.Lara could not convert his start into a bigger score, however – a malady that afflicted Chanderpaul (45), Carl Hooper and Ramnaresh Sarwan as well. South Africa could easily pick up wickets whenever a partnership started to flourish, and Donald picked up his 250th wicket en route to figures of two for 44 off eight overs. The West Indies ultimately eked out 238 for eight, unable to unleash the really big shots except for a couple of overs towards the end. That may have cost them; even 10 runs more would have seen them emerge victorious instead of the South Africans. As it transpired, with this win South Africa more or less ensured themselves a place in the semi-final, with only a match against Kenya remaining to be played.

Gers fans slam Murray tweet

Glasgow Rangers were far from happy with a tweet from journalist Ewan Murray, who slammed the lack of Scottish players in their squad for their Premiership opener on Saturday.

The Gers kicked off their campaign with a 3-0 win over Livingston at Ibrox in front of 23,000 supporters (The Herald). Ianis Hagi opened the scoring in the first half before Scott Wright and Kemar Roofe completed the scoring to put the Gers top of the table – they already lead their fierce city rivals Celtic by three points after they were defeated 2-1 by Hearts (BBC).

The Gers included two outfield Scotland players in the squad – as well as two goalkeepers. Others, such a Ryan Jack, would have been included if he were ready to feature. However, Murray was clearly very unhappy with this, and took to Twitter to criticise the squad selection.

The tweet attracted plenty of attention from the Gers supporters, and they took to the social media platform to share their thoughts.

Let’s see what the fans had to say about the tweet from Murray below

“Disappointing tweet. Usually quite funny, sometimes educated. This comes across as bitter!”

“Haha love how triggered you get about all things Rangers!”

Credit: @Renegade_uk100

“utter nonsense, you have looked long and hard to find a negative here , clubs had to fight for the colt team to get involved , these things take time , look at the amount we have out on loan getting experience”

Credit: @Kennybarnes49

“Journalists unable to hide their contempt of Rangers before a ball has even been kicked, guess the football is well and truly back now.”

Credit: @Blucifer_

“Feels like a cheap dig at a club you perhaps don’t like very much. Youth development takes time, and IMO Rangers are putting steps in place to make sure we have good Scottish players coming through.”

Credit: @CottonRunt09

“Just for the sake of it, ignore the 2 Scottish international goalkeepers in the squad because it makes your point more valid ! Stirring it early this year Ewan, hope yous get relegated again after a comfortable victory tonight.”

In other news, this man was surprisingly omitted from Rangers’ Champions League squad.

India take series with eight-wicket win at Chennai

If it was action that people came looking for, they would not have been disappointed by the fourth day’s play at the MA Chidambaram stadium at Chepauk

Anand Vasu20-Oct-2002If it was action that people came looking for, they would not have been disappointed by the fourth day’s play at the MA Chidambaram stadium at Chepauk. Harbhajan Singh gave the ball a royal tweak, sent the West Indies into a tail-spin, Virender Sehwag blazed away, and a victory target of 81 was breezed past in just 21.1 overs. India have now taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in this three-Test series for the Exide Cup.The day began with the West Indies on 186 for four, with Ramnaresh Sarwan taking his side towards a fighting second-innings score. But with a searing, perfectly directed delivery, Zaheer Khan ensured that the three-figure mark eluded Sarwan once more. Trapped lbw in the 72nd over of the innings for 78 (297 minutes, 214 balls, four fours, one six), Sarwan had failed to keep the Indian bowlers at bay for long on the day.The dismissal of Sarwan provided enough of a window for Harbhajan to work his magic. Bamboozling the West Indian lower-order with a spell of bowling that took him past Muttiah Muralitharan as the leading wicket-taker of the calendar year, the Punjab offie scalped as many as three wickets in a single over. In the 75th over, Harbhajan Singh sent back three West Indian batsmen. Ryan Hinds (7), Gareth Breese (0) and Merv Dillon (4) all perished as they played against the spin. With four for 79, Harbhajan was the pick of the bowlers – and the eventual Man of the Match for his incisive bowling and batting cameo – as the tourists crumbled to 229.India’s response was as swift as it was decisive. Sehwag, with his mind set on going after the spinners, launched himself into several massive drives, two of which sailed over the ropes. On 33, off just 31 balls, Sehwag tried to loft Carl Hooper one time too many and was beaten in the flight and stumped.Sanjay Bangar, in an unusually aggressive mood, scored 20 before edging Hooper to Chris Gayle in the slips. With a steady drizzle pattering down and heavy clouds hanging over the floodlit stadium, Sachin Tendulkar (16) and Rahul Dravid (6) knocked off the winning runs.Looking back, Sourav Ganguly will say that everything went perfectly for India – well, almost everything. The skipper is nursing a very sore lower back after a bone-crunching collision with Anil Kumble when the pair both attempted to take a catch. But then again, some would say that even the collision was a reflection of the boyish enthusiasm with which India rushed to a comfortable win.

Newcastle transfer update on Willock

Alan Nixon has claimed that Newcastle United can now sign Joe Willock before the summer transfer window ends.

The Lowdown: Saga goes on

There have been various reports throughout the window of the St. James’ Park faithful wanting to bring Willock back on a permanent deal, with one even claiming that they have already agreed a deal with Arsenal.

He is reportedly the priority target for the Tyneside club, but only time will tell if they end up getting their man.

The Latest: Promising 3-word update

As per football journalist Nixon, the potential permanent transfer of Willock to the North East has ‘got a chance’.

However, the Gunners will not drop their price much below £30m, and Nixon adds that it will come down to how Steve Bruce’s team make their payments.

The Verdict: Sign

If the Magpies can significantly negotiate down the original price of £30m, then signing Willock on a permanent deal is a no brainer.

The English midfielder scored no fewer than eight goals in total in 14 games in the Premier League in the 2020/21 season while on loan (Transfermarkt), and clearly elevated the side as they climbed away from the relegation zone.

Thus, the Toon should be looking to get this deal done as soon as possible ahead of the new campaign, which is not far away now.
