Depois de penduras as chuteiras em 1993, Gilson Gênio foi treinador e trabalhou por vários anos nas categorias de base do Fluminense.

No início de maio, dia 6, um jogo beneficente entre os times masters de Flu e América foi realizado em solidariedade a Gilson Gênio, com renda revertida para o tratamento do ex-jogador. O evento havia sido realizado outras vezes.

O Fluminense decretou luto oficial de três dias pela morte do ídolo tricolor. Confira na íntegra a nota divulgada pelo Tricolor das Laranjeiras:

“O Fluminense Football Club lamenta profundamente a perda do seu ídolo, ex-jogador e ex-treinador Gilson Gênio. Ele morreu na manhã deste domingo após uma longa batalha contra o câncer.

O velório acontece a partir das 14h deste domingo na Câmara Municipal de Itaguaí e o enterro será às 9h desta segunda-feira no cemitério São Francisco Xavier de Itaguaí.”

O goleiro Renan Ribeiro completa neste sábado, dia 3 de junho, quatro anos de São Paulo. Ele foi apresentado no CT da Barra Funda em 3 de junho de 2013, quando chegou do Atlético-MG.

Titular da meta tricolor nesta temporada, Renan diz estar vivendo seu melhor momento na carreira. O goleiro de 27 anos atuou em 13 partidas nesta temporada, sendo dez em sequência.

– Fico feliz e muito orgulhoso em poder completar quatro anos da minha apresentação em um clube como o São Paulo. Uma instituição muito grande, de muito prestígio mundial, e que muitos têm o sonho de defender. Pude realizar esse sonho em 2013, e continuo realizando a cada dia de treinamento e de jogos. Depois de quatro anos, hoje vivo meu melhor momento, com uma sequência de partidas, e espero que assim possa continuar por muito mais tempo. Isso só me motiva para continuar trabalhando, evoluindo, e em busca de títulos para o clube e para a torcida – afirmou o goleiro, que tem contrato com o São Paulo até maio de 2018.

Renan também exaltou a fase do São Paulo, que vem de vitórias sobre Avaí e Palmeiras. Neste domingo, às 16h, o Tricolor enfrenta a Ponte Preta, no Moisés Lucarelli, pela quarta rodada do Brasileirão.

– Estamos em uma boa sequência de jogos, com duas vitórias, sendo duas delas sem tomar gol. Foram duas partidas em nossa casa, onde conseguimos impor o nosso jogo. Agora, temos que fazer o mesmo fora. Sabemos da força da Ponte Preta, mas, para buscar as primeiras posições no Brasileiro, é preciso pontuar sempre. A equipe tem evoluído, o Rogério está conseguindo trabalhar bem, com tempo, e isso tem sido visto dentro de campo. Mas não é por isso que temos de acomodar. Temos que continuar com o mesmo pensamento, de evoluir a cada dia, para que coisas boas possam acontecer ainda este ano – avaliou Renan.

Recent reports suggest that Manchester City are willing to let Patrick Roberts leave on a free transfer this summer, which will bring an end to a nightmare spell at the Etihad.

According to Sky Sports (via SI), City are willing to let the 24-year-old winger leave for nothing, with as many as 11 clubs interested in signing him before the transfer deadline.

The Citizens paid £12m to sign him from Fulham in 2015 but they clearly haven’t seen enough development from the Englishman in the past six years and feel that now is the right time to get him off the wage bill permanently, after spending the last few seasons out on loan.

Roberts looked to have a bright future at City when he impressed on loan at Celtic, contributing 18 goals and 26 assists in 78 appearances for the Hoops between 2015 and 2018.

Incidentally, one of those goals came against his parent club in a 1-1 draw in the Champions League, which led Pep Guardiola to sing his praises, saying:

Brendan Rodgers, who was in charge of Celtic at the time, also dubbed him a “top young English talent” but he clearly hasn’t done enough to prove he deserved a chance at City under Guardiola, with just three senior appearances to his name.

Recent seasons have seen Roberts struggle at the likes of Girona, Norwich City, Middlesbrough and Derby County, with just two goals to his name in those loan spells, so it seems clear that he isn’t good enough for Manchester City’s first-team.

At just 24, with one year on his contract remaining, you feel that City could still command a fee for Roberts, but it seems as if they are desperate to be rid of him. That suggests that it proved to be a disastrous decision by Txiki to sign him for £12m in 2015.

وأشار رومانو إلى أن يوفنتوس الآن يعمل على الانتهاء من الأعمال الورقية، وسيطير الأرجنتيني إلى إيطاليا الأسبوع المقبل، ويمكن أن يكون التوقيع والإعلان الرسمي خلال أيام.

وفي نفس السياق، أكد رومانو على أن بول بوجبا سيوقع على عقود انتقاله بشكل رسمي إلى يوفنتوس يوم السبت المقبل، بعد 6 سنوات بعيدًا عن البيانكونيري.

اللاعب الفرنسي سينضم أيضًا لـ يوفنتوس في صفقة انتقال حر، بعد انتهاء عقده مع مانشستر يونايتد الإنجليزي، الذي انضم إليهم من البيانكونيري في 2016 مقابل 115 مليون يورو.

Lots of Everton fans have been left lauding Alex Iwobi’s latest international display for Nigeria.

As shared by the Goodison Park faithful on their official Twitter page, the winger bagged himself two assists as the Super Eagles won 2-0 in their FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Liberia.

Iwobi was also named the game’s Most Valuable Player (MVP), highlighting his influence upon his national side.

This follows the goal and assist that the former Arsenal ace has managed in the four appearances that he has made in total so far over all competitions this season (Transfermarkt), as he really seems to be hitting some good form under Rafa Benitez.

He will certainly want to continue his fine form after the international break has finished.
