Many Wolves fans have been left flocking to some transfer news involving Sven Botman.

L’Equipe (via Sport Witness) have now hinted that the Midlands club could return for the Lille central defender in the January transfer window, after being linked with a move for him in the summer.

Lille do not currently have plans to sell him, although the ‘courtiers have not disappeared’ with regards to attempts to secure his signature, which seemingly indicates that WWFC are still interested.

Having been a key part of Lille’s Ligue 1 title-winning side last season over PSG, only missing twice in the UEFA Champions League this campaign.

At just 21 years of age, the Dutchman is such a hot prospect, and so the Wanderers would do very well to secure his services.

Leeds United’s latest Premier League outing saw them scrape a 2-2 draw at Elland Road against Brentford thanks to a last-gasp goal from striker Patrick Bamford from the substitutes bench.

Despite managing to rescue a point from the game right at the death, Leeds were unfortunately struck with two concerning injury worries that forced a couple of their key players off the pitch.

With defender Liam Cooper and midfielder Kalvin Phillips both picking up injuries in the match against Thomas Frank’s side, Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa said after the game that he doesn’t know “what type of injuries they have nor how long they’re going to take to recover.”

Given the lack of clarity at the moment it would presumably be rather concerning for the Leeds fans at the moment regarding the injured duo, however, with details likely to follow at some point this week, it’s safe to say that many supporters will have their fingers crossed that their fitness issues aren’t severe.

Taking into account how Leeds have only just welcomed back Luke Ayling and Patrick Bamford back to action after being out for a significant period with injuries, Bielsa will surely be fuming if he has to deal with the prospect of having Phillips and Cooper now out on the sidelines too,

With Phillips and Cooper being two of the four outfield Leeds players that have racked up more than 1000 minutes of Premier League action so far this season alongside Raphinha and Stuart Dallas, this shows not only how important they are to the team but how much of a blow it would be to have them out injured.

After all, Cooper is the club captain and his midfield colleague is now a successful England international.

Additionally, with Leeds having conceded 22 goals in 15 league games so far this season and the fact that after the Chelsea match at the weekend, they have Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool to deal with before January, it’s safe to say that they could really do with having the spine of their team available for these games to give the Yorkshire club the best chance of picking up some points to stay away from the relegation zone.

O São Paulo pode ter quatro mudanças para enfrentar o Atlético-PR, neste sábado, no Pacaembu, sem ter feito nenhum trabalho tático desde a derrota para o Atlético-MG, na quarta-feira. Além de promover as voltas de Arboleda e Cueva, que estavam com suas seleções, Dorival Júnior corre o risco de buscar substitutos para Militão e Petros, poupados o treino desta sexta-feira por desgaste muscular e que farão testes no aquecimento para saber se jogam.

Ambos estão concentrados com o elenco, mas a comissão técnica ainda não tem garantias de que poderá escalá-los. A situação deles será definida minutos antes do jogo. Caso sejam vetados, as novidades na escalação tendem a ser Buffarini, já que o lateral-direito Bruno segue impedido de atuar por conta de dores na região cervical, e Jucilei.

No restante do time, o mais provável é que Arboleda retome sua vaga na posição de Bruno Alves, responsável por cometer o pênalti que sentenciou a derrota de quarta-feira, e Cueva atue no lugar de Jonanta Gomez, meio-campista que teve péssima atuação em Belo Horizonte.

Poupar os titulares de qualquer desgaste tem sido a tônica dos trabalhos desde quarta-feira. Na quinta, ainda em Belo Horizonte, eles ficaram no hotel enquanto reservas treinaram na Cidade do Galo. Nesta sexta-feira, já em São Paulo, a comissão técnica tinha programado um treino para se ambientar ao Pacaembu, mas mudou de ideia para usar a estrutura do CT da Barra Funda na recuperação dos atletas.

Na tarde desta sexta-feira, sob chuva, o que ocorreu no CT foi um trabalho leve, sem nenhuma atividade tática. Os jogadores ficaram trocando passes e variavam os exercícios: Hernanes corria, Pratto finalizava, Buffarini e Marcinho cruzavam, entre outros trabalhos. Tudo para se mexer, mas sem se desgastar demais.

Não foram a campo, além de Militão e Petros, o atacante Gilberto, que segue tratando de contratura na coxa esquerda, o lateral-direito Bruno, com dores cervicais, e o zagueiro Lugano, que sente desconforto na panturrilha direita. Todos serão desfalques, assim como os atacantes Brenner, que disputa o Mundial sub-17, e Morato e Wellington Nem, que operaram seus joelhos direitos e não jogam mais neste ano.

O São Paulo está na zona de rebaixamento do Brasileiro, em 17º lugar, com 31 pontos. O time inicia às 21h deste sábado, contra o Atlético-PR, uma sequência de cinco partidas como mandante no Pacaembu, já que o Morumbi receberá shows nas próximas semanas.

A comprehensive government-organised audit of the PCB covering a period of five financial years up to June 2008 has unveiled the spectacular depth of financial ineptitude, mismanagement and wastefulness of the administration of three chairmen this decade: Tauqir Zia, Shaharyar Khan and Nasim Ashraf.Criticism over the way the board has been run has never been mild, but the audit report, conducted on the request of Pakistan’s sports ministry, will provide further fuel to the ire of those who say that the board has never been as poorly managed, as it has been this decade. Though not a public document, the report has found its way to several media outlets.According to the report, the PCB’s annual expenditures have nearly doubled from Rs 571 million in 2004 to Rs 1.8 billion in 2008. The board recorded a surplus budget of just over Rs1 billion in 2004, but by 2008 that had been whittled down, staggeringly, to a deficit of Rs 130 million. How that has happened is clear from the report.Money has been lost from non-recovery of rent (nearly Rs 25 million), it has been squandered and not recovered on legal bills of players such as Mohammad Yousuf and Mohammad Asif (over Rs 20 million); Rs 65 million, says the report, has been wasted on development projects with no results; Rs 44 million was spent on procuring equipment for a biomechanical analysis lab for the national cricket academy, which has since been lying unused; Rs 67 million is estimated to have been lost because the board didn’t implement the recommendation of its own finance committee in 2005 to re-invest its foreign currency earnings in local currency accounts. The audit also estimated a loss of nearly Rs 6 billion due to the failure of successive administrations to get nearly 60 acres of land it owns around the National Stadium in Karachi vacated from illegal occupation. The list goes on.As disconcerting as the waste has been the lack of procedure and the ad-hoc way in which the board has run its financial dealings. The report criticizes the board for not clearly defining the role and limits of the chairman’s powers, especially when it comes to financial control. The ambiguity allowed Nasim Ashraf, for example, to announce a bonus of Rs 19.50 million for players without mandatory approval from the governing board. In much the same, arbitrary way, cars and unsecured advances to staff – totally nearly Rs 20 million – have been handed out without approval.The report also calculated expenditure of nearly Rs 150 million carried out without the support of proper documentation, as well as chiding the board for not providing, for the audit, over a 100 documents. Additionally, the board, it says, has consistently hired employees and awarded contracts without following the proper procedure. One example was the five-year TV rights deal the board signed with Ten Sports in 2003 – worth US$ 42.6 million – for which no bidding documents were provided. The most evident message from the audit seems to be that not only have boards knowingly wasted money, they have had little clear idea of how an organisation is run and organised.The current administration of Ijaz Butt – which began in October 2008 – does not come under the period audited and so is not implicated in any way. On taking over Butt openly talked of the financial mismanagement of preceding administrations and launched an austerity drive to cut down on expenses. Efforts were made to cut down on staff numbers – allegedly over 800 during Ashraf’s time – and on related perks, but the effects of that will only be known when details of the next audit emerge.”Expenditure on the 2008-2009 budgets, which was approved under former administration, was cut to half of the approved amount, saving over a billion rupees,” Butt said. “The budget on 2009-2010 also stands on less than half of the amount of approved budget of the last year. It was done by carrying out a comprehensive cost cutting in all financial matters by cutting expenditures, streamlining staffing, and adopting a policy of austerity in all matters of the Board during his term.”
