No entanto, o atacante ainda é o artilheiro do time com cinco gols. Ele é a esperança para melhorar o setor ofensivo do time nesta reta final da competição.

Newcastle eyeing deal for Pontus Jansson

An update has emerged on Brentford central defender Pontus Jansson, regarding Newcastle United’s interest in his services…

What’s the talk?

According to The Guardian, the Magpies are one of three Premier League sides lining up a swoop for the ex-Leeds enforcer ahead of the January transfer window.

The report claims that Leicester and Everton are also looking at him as a potential target, with his contract at the London club set to expire next summer.

Crucial issue

Eddie Howe may solve a crucial Newcastle issue by sealing a deal for Jansson in January – the leaky defence they have suffered from in the opening 16 games of the campaign.

They have conceded a whopping 34 goals in the Premier League, the most in the entire division, and are currently 19th in the table.

Brentford, meanwhile, have only conceded 22 goals – fewer than nine other teams – and Jansson has started all 16 of their games. This shows that he has been a key part of their success at the back and proves that he is capable of performing well at Premier League level, with his defensive record at the newly-promoted side being far better than Newcastle’s is currently.

Bees boss Thomas Frank previously lauded the defender’s ‘immense’ professionalism and hailed the experience he brings to the side. He said:

“Pontus is a top defender who brings immense professionalism, a great attitude, experience, defensive robustness, leadership qualities, and threat from set-pieces to our side.

“Everyone knows about the Brentford model but to develop the young players we have here, we also need experience and quality in the squad to get the perfect balance.”

The £24k-per-week colossus has averaged 4.8 clearances and 2.3 tackles and interceptions per game for Brentford in the top-flight, whilst also chipping in with one goal and one assist to help the attackers. This shows that he has been an active part of their defensive success and why he could come in and solve Newcastle’s problems in that area.

Howe’s team are struggling badly in their own box and Jansson’s form and defensive record for the Bees suggests that he could come in and have a positive impact on the side. This is why PIF must splash the cash and bring the 30-year-old to St. James’ Park in January to bolster the squad and solve a crucial issue in the team.

Trincao, Semedo, Neves Wolves worst

Wolves enjoyed a 1-0 away at Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League on Wednesday night thanks to a goal from Romain Saiss.

It was a lovely curling ball by Ruben Neves to put him through, and a delicate touch from the Morocco international to give the Midlands club all three points against the Seagulls.

However, Neves was one of a few WWFC players who may not have been best pleased with their overall individual performance, as The Transfer Tavern have used statistical experts SofaScore to analyse who the three worst players (to have played at least 45 minutes) were for Bruno Lage’s team on the night.

With the transfer window coming up and injured players like Pedro Neto not far off a return, underperforming players may well be looking over their shoulder as the competition for places heats up…

Ruben Neves

The 6.9 rating given by SofaScore given to Neves seems very harsh considering his immaculate assist, but other aspects of his game means he ranks third here.

The central midfielder lost out on all six of his duels – hardly ideal for a combative midfielder – while he also failed to record a dribble, clearance, interception or tackle in the middle of the park.

He also lost possession of the ball on 15 separate occasions, the fourth-most out of any of his teammates.

Nelson Semedo

Despite being given the same rating (6.9) by SofaScore, Semedo ranks in second because of Neves’ assist.

The Portuguese international lost six duels, the same as Neves, and also made no interceptions, key passes, accurate crosses or long balls from the right wing-back position.

Semedo gave the ball away 17 times in total, the most out of any Wanderers player, and his lack of good deliveries into the box was extremely disappointing.

Francisco Trincao

Trincao was rated as the worst player for the Molineux faithful by SofaScore (6.4), and even the fans were particularly critical of his performance.

The winger lost four of his duels, while he was also unsuccessful with three of his dribble attempts, and never produced a key pass, accurate cross or long ball.

Trincao lost the ball 16 times, the joint-second most out of his teammates, which pretty much summed up his night.

Andrew McDonald and John Hastings shared eight wickets as they pushed Victoria to a six-point buffer at the top of the Sheffield Shield table following an innings-and-50-run triumph over Queensland. Rain tried to take the match into a fourth day but McDonald, who bowled unchanged for 20.3 overs, and Hastings broke through to finish things off shortly after tea.The Bulls, who were missing the opener Ryan Broad with a broken thumb, were dismissed for 133 to follow their 195 in the first innings. Only four batsmen made double figures and Lee Carseldine’s 27 was the best effort as the visitors were thoroughly outplayed.Hastings charged through the lower order and was on a hat-trick after having Chris Simpson (23) caught behind and bowling Ben Cutting. When play resumed after tea he removed Chris Hartley (26) and Scott Walter before McDonald ended the match by knocking over Daniel Doran. McDonald finished with 4 for 37 while Hastings captured 4 for 30 in a neat collection. The Bushrangers, who won the competition last year, are now on 14 points, six ahead of Queensland and South Australia. They also have a game in hand after starting the season late due to their Champions League Twenty20 commitments.

Celtic: Alan Hutton reacts to David Turnbull injury

Pundit Alan Hutton has been reacting to the injury Celtic midfielder David Turnbull sustained last weekend in the League Cup final, Football Insider report.

The Lowdown: Hamstring injury; expert’s thoughts

Turnbull missed his first game under Ange Postecoglou on Wednesday in the 0-0 draw with St. Mirren after hobbling off with a hamstring issue at Hampden Park on the weekend.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/celtic-updates-20/” title=”Celtic updates!!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

Postecoglou was awaiting results of a scan to learn the extent of Turnbull’s problem, with injury expert Ben Dinnery telling Football Insider it would be down to fatigue and could keep him out for up to two months.

Celtic will soon have the chance to have a breather with the winter break, but should Turnbull miss two months, he wouldn’t be available for the Glasgow derby, despite the fact it has been put back four weeks to February 2.

The Latest: Hutton’s comments

Hutton, who regularly works for BBC Radio 5 Live, was talking to Football Insider regarding Turnbull’s injury.

This is what he had to say in reply, labelling it as a potential ‘massive miss’.

“They‘ll be worried about that Old Firm game.

“Especially if Turnbull and Jota are both out.

“Even Rangers are trying to protect Joe Aribo from getting that yellow card suspension. That just shows you what a massive game it is in terms of the league title race.

“Turnbull has been one of their top performers this season. He’ll be a massive miss. They’ll have to be careful. It’s a hamstring injury that could keep him out for a long time.”

The Verdict: Not good…

Should Turnbull miss the meeting with Rangers at the beginning of February, it would be a big blow.

He’s been Celtic’s best-rated performer this season in the Scottish Premiership (to have played at least five games), averaging more key passes and crosses per 90 than any of his teammates. [WhoScored]

The Hoops may also be without top scorer Kyogo Furuhashi and regular Tom Rogic against Rangers due to possible international commitments.

Being without three star men against your biggest rivals is never good news, and the meeting at Parkhead could have a major say in the race for the Scottish Premiership title, with Celtic currently six points behind.

In other news: Possession lost 44 times, 0 shots on target, 1 cross: Celtic’s worst three players vs St. Mirren.

دعم المدير الرياضي لبايرن ميونخ، حسن صالح حميديتش، ساديو ماني الوافد الجديد لصفوف الفريق البافاري، في سوق الانتقالات الصيفي.
