Surrey’s County Championship Division Two opener finished in a draw when bad light forced an end to Northamptonshire’s unlikely run chase seven overs from the scheduled close at an overcast Kia Oval. The visitors, having been set two sessions to score 289 in a minimum 66 overs at an asking rate of 4.27 an over, had reached 211 for 5 but were still 77 runs short when the captains shook hands.Having lost opener Stephen Peters with only 18 on the board, the visitors briefly threatened their goal when Mal Loye and Rob White joined forces in an attractive second-wicket stand worth 77.Former England wrist-spinner Chris Schofield then removed White leg before after he missed an attempted sweep before Loye fell in the same fashion for a 101-ball 50.Once David Sales (12) and Alex Wakeley (43) fell in the space of two overs – both had their stumps rearranged by full and quick deliveries from Stuart Meaker – the visitors appeared happy to settle for a draw which they achieved once Andrew Hall and Niall O’Brien saw them through to the end of play.Surrey started the day on of 182 for 4 – a tentative lead of 128 runs. They soon lost nightwatchman Tim Linley, who was bamboozled and palpably leg-before to the leg-spin of Rob White in the seventh over of the day.Zander De Bruyn, making his debut since the move to SE11 from Somerset, posted a maiden half-century for his new club from 137 balls, including six fours, at which point the hosts led by 176 runs. De Bruyn and fellow Surrey debutant Tom Maynard joined forces in a healthysixth-wicket stand to add 69 in 15 overs before Maynard went for 40 after having middle stump plucked out by a Lee Daggett off-cutter that kept low.Though Northamptonshire took the new ball after 88 overs it only served to allow Surrey to accelerate the run-rate, firstly through Schofield and then, as the lunch break and three figures loomed, De Bruyn.Schofield was harsh on Andrew Hall, dispatching the former South Africa Test allrounder for two fours and, in his following over, a brace of sixes as the hosts plundered 34 from the last two overs before the break.Surrey captain Rory Hamilton-Brown declared during the interval however, leaving de Bruyn 10 short of a century after 257 minutes at the crease. He scored eight fours and two sixes, while Schofield’s cameo of 37 came off only 23 deliveries.

With shoulder injuries likely to rule out the regular openers, Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir, the primary talking point at the meeting will be their replacements. M Vijay and Parthiv Patel are favourites at the moment to be included in the 16-man squad, ESPNcricinfo has learnt.Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni and Zaheer Khan, who were all rested from the limited-overs leg of the West Indies tour, are likely to return for the Tests.Vijay has opened for India in Tests, filling in for the regular openers when required. He scored his maiden Test ton against Australia in Bangalore last year. Parthiv has played only one Test since October 2004, but was used as a make-shift ODI opener in South Africa.Yuvraj Singh has also improved his chances of making a Test comeback after his performances in the World Cup, where he scored 362 runs, took 15 wickets, and was the Player of the Tournament. He last played a Test in Sri Lanka in July 2010, after which he was dropped for the series against Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.Virat Kohli’s recent form in limited-overs matches is also likely to attract the selectors’ attention. In the previous 12 months Kohli has made 1107 runs in 31 ODIs with three centuries and seven fifties. O Fluminense fez um bom jogo diante do Botafogo, nesta segunda-feira, no Nilton Santos, mas acabou esbarrando em uma grande atuação do goleiro Jefferson e acabou derrotado por 2 a 1. Das joias a serem lapidadas pelo técnico Jair Ventura no time profissional do Santos, o centroavante Yuri Alberto aparece como uma das mais promissoras. Dono de bons números na carreira – entre sub-13 e time profissional, são 87 gols marcados – o garoto de 17 anos deve ganhar uma chance entre os titulares nesta quinta-feira, contra o Luverdense, às 19h15, em Lucas do Rio Verde, pelas oitavas de final da Copa do Brasil. Ao LANCE!, ele fala da vontade em repetir o sucesso do passado, do gosto pela matemática e até do desejo em cursar direito “daqui uns dois anos”.

– Uma de minhas metas é bater os recordes que tive no profissional. No sub-15, eu quebrei o recorde do Diego (marcou 32 gols e uma edição de Campeonato Paulista do sub-17 e superou o meia, hoje no Flamengo). No profissional, é mais difícil, mas estamos aí, na correira. Aos poucos, estou me adaptando.

Brincalhão e de sorriso fácil, Yuri ainda não se vê totalmente pronto. Acredita em uma evolução no dia a dia para, enfim, se soltar no Santos. Atualmente, cursa o terceiro ano do Ensino Médio e tem até planos de fazer uma faculdade de Direito em um futuro próximo – mesmo sendo fã de exatas. Ele mesmo explica:

– Não sei se nesta temporada já, mas estou me adaptando. Desde outubro, quando cheguei, tenho evoluído bastante. Até em termo técnicos, de força, também. Estou me preparando bem. Na escola, graças a Deus (risos), é o último ano. Gosto de estudar matemática. Só matemática. É um sofrimento. Mas, quem sabe, daqui uns dois anos possa fazer uma faculdade, sim. Tem de ter um plano B, né? Virar empresário, fazer Direito. Gosto de Direito.

O problema é que, talvez, o Santos adie os planos do garoto em se formar no ensino superior.

– Se eu começar a ganhar destaque, aí não vai dar, né?O calendário vai ficar pequeno. Vai ser difícil, mas é um desejo – conta.

À vontade, o Menino da Vila também falou sobre a amizade com Rodrygo, sobre seu primeiro gol na Vila Belmiro, a idolatria por Ricardo Oliveira e revelou até que quando era pequeno era usado como meia-armador, justamente a posição considerada mais carente no elenco atual. Dá para voltar a jogar assim? Ele adianta que hoje não mais.

Confira a entrevista com o centroavante Yuri Alberto:
Como controlar a expectativa para ganhar mais minutos no time profissional?
A expectativa para jogar está grande. No jogo que eu entrei (contra o Luverdense, na Vila Belmiro), eu pude aporveitar a oportunidade. No meu primeiro toque na bola. Eu até desacreditei. Quando eu fiz o gol, eu falei: ‘Arthur, não estou acreditando, mano’. Acabou o jogo e não toquei mais nenhuma vez na bola. Foi muito importante para mim.

Conversou com Jair Ventura sobre sua desconvocação da Seleção Brasileira sub-20? Como lidou com isso?
Essa convocações que estão surgindo agora são importantes, sim. É preparação para o Sul-Americano sub-20 do começo do ano que vem. Mas também foi importante eu ter ficado porque pude fazer o meu primeiro gol na Vila.

E como é sua relação com Jair?
Jair é bem tranquilo, é bem parceiro da gente, sabe conversar. É um cara novo, resenha, carioca… (Risos). Eu gosto bastante dele.

Sentiu muita diferença entre a base e o profissional?
Muda um pouco. Na base é mais correira, todo mundo correndo atrás da bola. Aqui no profissional, é um jogo mais inteligente. É bem diferente. Pode ver que nos treinos eu fico correndo que nem doido, ainda estou me acostumando (risos).

Como chegou ao Santos?
Sou de São José dos Campos, jogava numa escolinha chamada Primeira Camisa, do Roque Júnior. Lá, eu fui artilheiro de todos os campeonatos jogando como meia. Quando eu tinha dez anos, vim fazer um teste no Santos. Fiquei uma semana. Só que eu não pude vir para cá porque já estava inscrito no Paulista pelo São José dos Campos. Eu ia representar a cidade. Vim só no ano seguinte. No ano que eu não vim, o Santos foi campeão paulista e o técnico me zoou para caramba depois.

Quem mais te marcou na carreira até aqui?
Luciano (Santos). Cheguei ao clube em 2013 e peguei o Luciano desde o sub-12 ao sub-17. O cara mais importante da minha carreira.

Como se tornou centroavante e como se sente na posição?
Eu jogava de meia. Quando eu cheguei no Santos, eu era meia. Aí eu fui dando uma crescida, fui ficando mais rápido, fiz trabalhos físicos, aí caí para ponta. De 2014 para 2015, eu fui pegando mais altura e também tinha o Rodrygo na ponta, acabei jogando de centroavante.

Luciano foi me passando os macetes e fui aproveitando as oportunidades. Movimentação, né? Paredes que eu tento aprender até hoje, é difícil segurar um zagueiro de 2 metros e pouco. É difícil jogar de centroavante, eu até converso isso com o Gabigol. Tem hora que você tem que dar um toque só na bola, porque os caras já vem mordendo seu tornozelo. Com os cravos da chuteira, pisar na bola é mais difícil.

Dá para voltar a jogar de meia?
Eu era meia armador. Jogava de 10. Será? (Risos). Eu tinha 12 anos quando jogava de meia. Agora sou centroavante, não dá mais.

Tem alguma inspiração ou ídolo?
Ricardo Oliveira, o cara é ídolo demais. O elenco sentiu bastante a saída dele. Meu pai é meu aliado. Puxa orelha, dá conselho. São exigentes, os piores zagueiros da minha vida. Ficaram orgulhosos demais, meu pai chorou. Quando eu ia entrar, o juíz tava dando uma enrolada. Pensei que ia acabar o jogo, aí eu pude entrar e fazer o gol, o bicho ficou maluco.

Você, além de ser muito amigo do Rodrygo, faz parte de uma geração promissora do Santos. Dá um frio na barriga esse rótulo?
Eu e Rodrygo somos da mesma sala, mesmo time, todo dia vendo a cara daquele miserável (risos). Eu, ele, Lucas Lourenço, Victor Yan… Muitos. Fico feliz pelo reconhecimento da torcida. De quem pensa assim. Nós estamos dando uma resposta boa em campo.

É mais fácil ser um Menino da Vila do que se formar e subir ao profissional em outros clubes?
Tenho amigos em outros clubes e falamos sempre sobre isso. Acho que é mais fácil e gostoso ser Menino da Vila. É bem difícil para os outros. Quando a gente vai para a Seleção, todo mundo fala que já somos profissionais e ficam impressionados. Nos clubes deles não é assim. É bem mais difícil essa transição de 17 anos para o profissional. Sorte nossa.

The prospect of a final face-off between Sachin Tendulkar and Shane Warne had dominated the build-up to this clash, but on the field it was overshadowed by an imposing performance from Shane Watson. Not only did he deliver a fitting farewell for his captain from competitive cricket, he also left Mumbai Indians under serious pressure to keep their qualification chances alive following a third straight defeat. For someone who had struggled to capitalise on starts through this tournament, Watson compensated with a splendid all-round effort, with each of his crushing blows serving Mumbai a painful reminder of what they should have achieved on a good pitch.The Tendulkar-Warne contest should have been a non-event as left-arm spinner Ankeet Chavan trapped Tendulkar twice in front, only for umpire Paul Reiffel to think otherwise. Backed up by his disciplined bowling at one end, Watson dismissed T Suman and Ambati Rayudu in successive overs from the other, depriving the hosts of the attacking start they would have hoped for after choosing to bat. And just as Kieron Pollard had warmed up at the death after muscling a couple of boundaries, Watson cleaned him up to restrict Mumbai to a below-par total, one that was given some respectability by a classy half-century from Rohit Sharma.It didn’t take long for Watson to set about punishing Mumbai, as he smote Harbhajan Singh for two massive sixes over midwicket in the second over of the chase. He followed that up by drilling Lasith Malinga past mid-off in an over that perhaps produced his only moment of discomfort. Malinga responded venomously, knocking back Watson’s chin with a bouncer – it escaped the grill, there would have been some pain but Watson didn’t flinch. His own response? A memorable counterattack, pulling Malinga each time he dropped short, his next seven balls producing three fours, a flat six and a stunned crowd not used to seeing their star-studded home team being overwhelmed in that manner.A sense of resignation was felt in the crowd, if not among the players, when Watson smacked Harbhajan for three consecutive fours in his comeback over, while Rahul Dravid, happy to play the supporting role, showed his own class with some delightful boundaries off Pollard and Munaf Patel. The pair remained unbeaten, Rajasthan cantered home, marking a satisfactory end after their turmoil-filled build-up to the tournament.Rohit had won praise from Warne as one of the most exciting talents in Indian cricket, and he undoubtedly would have impressed his opposing captain with his performance today. He quickly took the lead in the stand with Tendulkar, his stand-out shot being an imposing drive against Warne through extra cover, matched by a delightful punch in the same region off Johan Botha who couldn’t restrain Rohit despite chasing him as he made room.Rohit used his feet well to spin, and stepped up in the late overs after Tendulkar perished to an upper cut off Amit Singh. Warne though, wasn’t finishing his spell without a cheer. His final victory with the ball was the stumping of Rohit, stunned by the turn and losing his bat to square leg with a wild swing gone bad. At the end of the game, Warne was still smiling while Mumbai stayed baffled.

Tim Paine has spent his past two tours doing little but running the drinks, so captaining Australia A in Zimbabwe will be a welcome task. The squad flies out on Saturday for a triangular one-day series against the hosts and South Africa A, before a pair of four-day games against Zimbabwe, and the selector Greg Chappell will be there taking notes ahead of Australia’s trip to Sri Lanka in August.Phillip Hughes, Usman Khawaja, Michael Beer and Jason Krejza are among those who will be hoping to impress Chappell and win immediate promotion, while younger men like Nic Maddinson and Mitchell Marsh are just happy to be part of the tour. Paine himself is a unique case; he has four Tests to his name but knows he won’t add to that tally in the near future unless Brad Haddin is injured.That’s the life of the backup wicketkeeper, as Haddin learnt when he spent the better part of a decade waiting for occasional chances to replace Adam Gilchrist. Paine was part of the World Cup squad but didn’t play a match, and had one outing in the ODI series in Bangladesh that followed, and now he’s looking forward to getting plenty of game-time in Zimbabwe.”It can be frustrating but at the same time I loved every minute of both of those tours,” Paine told ESPNcricinfo this week. “To get the chance to go to a World Cup was outstanding. Hopefully at some stage down the track I can go to another one and be the main keeper, that would be a great result. It can get a little bit frustrating sitting on the sidelines but at the same time I realise how lucky I am to be there.”Paine, 26, has come a long way in the space of a year; he won his first baggy green against Pakistan last July and impressed with both bat and gloves. He then went on to stand in for the injured Haddin on the October tour of India, where he posted two Test half-centuries and confirmed that he has the temperament and maturity to be a fine Test player.The selectors certainly rate him highly. After leading the Prime Minister’s XI in January, he was swiftly thrust into the national Twenty20 vice-captaincy behind Cameron White when Australia played England the same month, and he can further enhance his leadership credentials by steering an Australia A side with a mix of experience and youth.”This tour and as much last year the Prime Minister’s XI, they’re both big honours to be named captain of those sides,” he said. “I’m certainly thrilled to be given the opportunity. It’s something I enjoy doing but it’s something I realise I need to improve and want to improve. The more opportunities I get, the better I’ll be.”Paine has Callum Ferguson as his vice-captain for the Zimbabwe tour, which will feature several interesting subplots as the competition for places in the squad for Sri Lanka intensifies. Hughes can seal himself as the immediate opening replacement for Simon Katich with one big score, while Khawaja also wants to impress and make sure he remains in the Test squad.The spin bowl-off between Krejza and Beer in the four-day side could determine who gets the job for the first Test against Sri Lanka, with Beer not having won a Cricket Australia contract despite being the incumbent. وستجرى قرعة كأس العالم للأندية يوم 13 يناير في أكاديمية محمد السادس لكرة القدم في سلا بالرباط بالمغرب.

وتشارك سبعة أندية في النسخة التاسعة عشر لكأس العالم للأندية، وهي أندية: 

الأهلي (مصر)

الهلال (السعودية)

أوكلاند سيتي (نيوزيلندا)

فلامينجو (البرازيل)

ريال مدريد (أسبانيا)

سياتل ساوندرز (الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية)

الوداد (المغرب)

ستكون المباراة الافتتاحية بين الأهلي وأوكلاند سيتي بطل نيوزيلندا، ويلعب الوداد مع الهلال السعودي بطل آسيا أو سياتل الأمريكي بطل الكونكاكاف في الدور الثاني، على أن يلتقي الأهلي (حال فوزه على أوكلاند) مع الفريق المقابل.
