O Corinthians está eliminado da Copa do Brasil. Na noite da última terça, a equipe paulista foi derrotada, por 1 a 0, para o Flamengo e se despediu da competição nacional. Mesmo assim, o técnico Fábio Carille vê a equipe em franca evolução e projeta uma melhora nesta temporada, sobretudo após a parada para a Copa América.

-A gente vem de uma sequência legal de jogos, falando de rendimento, não de resultados. Com entendimento, marcação forte, rodar a bola, hoje (terça) conseguimos fazer isso várias vezes. Sem chances na Copa do Brasil, o Corinthians tem a Copa Sul-Americana e o Campeonato Brasileiro pela frente. Carille já deixou claro que não irá priorizar uma competição em detrimento da outra. Hoje, o foco da comissão técnica é manter a evolução apresentada pela equipe e dar entrosamento ao elenco.

Até a parada da Copa América, o Alvinegro tem mais dois jogos pela frente: no próximo sábado visita o Cruzeiro no Mineirão e, na sequência, mede forças com o Santos de Jorge Sampaoli na Vila Belmiro. Os dois compromissos são pelo Campeonato Brasileiro.

No período sem jogos, Carille aposta que poderá mudar o Corinthians de patamar. Isto porque, o elenco recebeu muitas peças novas nesta temporada e não teve tempo para treinar por conta da apertada sequência de jogos. Por isso, mesmo após o fracasso contra o Flamengo, o Alvinegro mantém o discurso positivo e vê evolução dentro de campo.

West Indies coach Ottis Gibson wants his team to immediately shift gears towards the 50-over World Cup in Australia and New Zealand next year following a semi-final exit which led to them relinquishing their World T20 title to eventual winners Sri Lanka. Gibson was optimistic that his team could put forth a formidable charge at another global tournament, and has urged his troops to ride the wave of their impressive T20 form over the past few months.”I’ve been speaking to Richard Pybus (Director of Cricket) about getting together a core group of players to target the 50-over World Cup, getting some fitness done and making sure those guys are at the peak of their fitness,” Gibson said. “All those [series] are opportunities to start to formulate a team or a squad of players that will then become the basis of the team that is likely to play in the World Cup, and get those guys playing together as often as possible.”It would give captain [Dwayne] Bravo an opportunity to work with this group of players and get a brand of cricket that he wants to play developed and strong, so that by the time we get to the World Cup next year, the guys are ready to peak again and have a real good go at winning a world title.”Gibson added that while a 30-man preliminary squad would be chosen to groom the final team, there was a sense of urgency needed in establishing the nucleus of the team as early as possible.”You have to look at where we are going and then you look at the people that we have in the Caribbean that are likely to succeed in those conditions and give them the opportunity to play,” he said. “You will have a World Cup 30-man squad but by now there will be a core group of 15-20 players that you will be looking to choose from and give opportunities to, and whittle it down. You have to get that 15-man squad playing as much cricket together as possible and start to develop some cohesiveness.West Indies have not won the World Cup since the first two tournaments held back in 1975 and 1979. They exited at the quarter-final stage in India three years ago, reached the Super Eights at home in 2007, and were quickly dispatched out of the first round in South Africa in 2003. Despite their indifferent form in recent World Cups, Gibson said that there was ‘a hunger inside the team’ following their World T20 loss, which he hoped would spur the players on.”I think the taste of winning a world title in Sri Lanka [in 2012] has given everybody a fantastic appetite for it [winning titles]. We know what it takes, we know it’s going to take a lot of hard work and commitment to the cause and that’s what we are starting to see now.”

There are any number of cabs on the rank, engines running. But a second high quality century of the season ought to have moved James Vince up the queue of traffic hoping to benefit from England’s miserable winter.The 23-year-old Vince took complete charge of another weather-hit day to strike an unbeaten 118, at virtually a run-a-ball, and put Division Two leaders Hampshire in a position that would be even stronger but for rain allowing just 31 overs.Vince’s innings, which followed a knock of 144 against Gloucestershire, and a couple of unbeaten half-centuries, means the stylish right-hander has now accumulated 400 Championship runs and currently lies a close second in the early season hit list to Ian Bell.Being mentioned in the same paragraph as Bell is no bad thing – and, given the way Vince is playing (and played last season) he could soon be named in the same England squad as him, be that at limited-overs or even Test level.”A year ago I would have said he was a better one-day player but I feel he has found a method in this form of the game that holds him in good stead in first-class cricket as well,” said Giles White, Hampshire’s director of cricket.Last summer was Vince’s breakthrough campaign as a Championship player. He topped 1000 runs (1101 at 61.16 to be precise) for the first time after some hard work with the county’s batting coach, Tony Middleton.”He changed his technique two years ago, altering his set up and the way he lines up the ball,” explained White. “He has reaped the rewards from that, has a very straightforward method and executes his game plan very well.”The way he strikes the ball, his range of stroke – he looks at a different level to other players. That’s a credit to the hard work he has put in and to what a talent he is.”County coaches quite understandably push their own players, and White accepts that Vince is far from alone in the race for England recognition. But he says: “We see him every day and he looks every bit a potential England player, and has done for a season and a bit now. If he keeps on putting in these performances he will be knocking pretty loudly on that door. I’m sure he is one of those players the selectors area aware of.”I wouldn’t be surprised [if he stepped up this season]. He seems to learn very quickly and is maturing as an individual. He has to continue to do it and churn out runs, day in and day out, but he has shown over the last year he is very capable of doing that.”Well though Vince batted, Surrey made life easier for him than they should have done on a pitch still offering enough assistance when the ball was put in the right place. But it went in the wrong place far too often from the visitors point of view, as 136 runs in 31 overs during the morning session might suggest.And when Surrey did create a chance, they missed it. Having been reprieved behind the stumps on the opening day, Vince was given a second life – on 44 – when edging Stuart Meaker through Jason Roy’s hands at third slip.Those blemishes apart, though, Vince was a joy to watch, missing few opportunities to drive and cut an attack featuring Jade Dernbach, Meaker and Matt Dunn.England, it would appear, have not washed their hands of Michael Carberry just yet – or, at least, their current batting coach, Graham Gooch, is still working with the opener. Gooch, or whoever has that job through this summer, may soon be working every bit as closely with Vince before too long.

O Corinthians pode sair de cabeça erguida, mesmo com a eliminação da Copa do Brasil. Nesta terça-feira, o Timão perdeu para o Flamengo por 1 a 0, no Maracanã, pelas oitavas de final da competição nacional. Após o confronto, o técnico Fábio Carille elogiou a atuação apesar da eliminação.

– São jogos grandes. Nos detalhes, muitas vezes, acaba acontecendo a passagem de um time. Infelizmente não foi o Corinthians. Um detalhe importante, o jogo de lá, o gol que tomamos do Arão, estávamos muito bem posicionados. Acontece, futebol, um cruzamento, volante entrando no meio da nossa linha e acertando a cabeçada. A gente sai de cabeça erguida, muito triste pelo resultado, mas sabendo que podemos crescer mais ainda – disse.

– A gente vem de uma sequência legal de jogos, falando de rendimento, não de resultados. Com entendimento, marcação forte, rodar a bola, hoje conseguimos fazer isso várias vezes. Somerset needed just 75 minutes of the final day to record their first win of the season by an innings and 11 runs against the leaders Sussex.Starting the day 68 runs short of making their visitors bat again, Sussex saw their hopes of taking the game into any sort of a contest ended when Ed Joyce chopped on for 93.Joyce represented Sussex’s best chance of salvation and, after he fell just short of a third century of the season, Somerset quickly wrapped up the tail and Sussex’s innings for 219.They started as they went on with an early wicket as England hopeful Chris Jordan, a useful lower-order batsman Sussex will have hoped could stick around, edging Jamie Overton to James Hildreth at first slip for 7.James Anyon joined Joyce in the middle and the pair at least looked like sending Somerset out again before Joyce perished. Marcus Trescothick’s decision to make a bowling change 45 minutes in paid off with Lewis Gregory, the game’s stand-out bowler, coming on and removing Joyce, who tried a nudge to third man but ended up diverting the ball onto his stumps.That was the main breakthrough Somerset had sought, before another bowling change produced dividends in the next over. Peter Trego was handed the ball by his skipper and he needed five balls to snare Anyon, who dragged a short delivery from the all-rounder down the throat of Chris Jones at midwicket for 10.The game was pretty much up at that point, and it was for sure when Jon Lewis lost his middle stump to Gregory for seven, giving the bowler impressive match figures of 9 for 97.

Uma nova “era” no Flamengo terá início nesta quinta-feira. A partir das 10h (de Brasília) desta manhã, no CT Ninho do Urubu, Jorge Jesus comandará o primeiro treino como técnico rubro-negro, na reapresentação do grupo. No entanto, Rafinha ainda não estará presente, assim como os selecionáveis Trauco, Cuéllar e Arrascaeta, todos em ação na Copa América.

Aos 33 anos e mais recente reforço para 2019, o lateral-direito não está no Rio – está em Londrina – e só deve treinar com os novos companheiros a partir desta segunda (24), quando, a princípio, será apresentado oficialmente e dará o pontapé inicial quanto ao vínculo de dois anos.

Após uma semana de recesso, o Flamengo volta às atividades com otimismo para a encardida sequência da temporada. O desafio a seguir, por exemplo, será contra o Athletico-PR pela ida das quartas de final da Copa do Brasil, no dia 10 de julho, na Arena da Baixada. Logo depois, ainda no próximo mês, vem outro mata-mata decisivo (contra o Emelec, pelas oitavas da Libertadores) e um clássico (contra o Botafogo) e o duelo com o Corinthians, pelo Brasileiro.

بطولة كأس العالم للأندية ستقام خلال الفترة من 12 ديسمبر بالدور التمهيدي، والنهائي 22 من نفس الشهر.

Sri Lanka wicketkeeper Prasanna Jayawardene will be unavailable for selection for the second Test, thanks to a finger injury to his right hand, which he sustained while keeping during the first day at Lord’s.He will be replaced in the squad by batsman Kithuruwan Vithanage, with Dinesh Chandimal likely to take over the gloves at Headingley. The injury will not prevent Jayawardene from batting in the second innings of the first Test.Jayawardene had had an X-ray on the second morning, leaving Kaushal Silva to keep wicket for a few overs, but that had not revealed a fracture. The bruising around the affected area has not receded, however, prompting the change in personnel as a precaution. Jayawardene will return to Sri Lanka after the Lord’s Test.A Test specialist, Jayawardene had also missed Sri Lanka’s Tests in Bangladesh this year due to a family bereavement. There are two keepers in the Sri Lanka squad as well as Kumar Sangakkara, who can take the gloves at a pinch.

وسجل منتخب تونس الهدف الثالث عن طريق حمزة رفيعة بعد مجهود كبير من حنبعل المجبري، قبل أن يذهب الثنائي البديل، والاحتفال بطريقة محمد صلاح.

رصدت الكاميرات محمد صلاح وهو يراقب الوضع بابتسامة متقبلة الأمر، بينما حنبعل وحمزة رفيعة، قررا الاحتفال بطريقة اليوجا الخاصة بالنجم المصري.

صحيفة “ديلي إكسبريس” البريطانية، اعتبرت ما حدث سخرية من احتفال محمد صلاح نجم ليفربول، خاصة وأن حنبعل لاعبًا لـ مانشستر يونايتد، والعداوة بين الفريقين تؤدي إلى ذلك.

وأشارت الصحيفة إلى أن حنبعل هو من بدأ الاحتفال على طريقة محمد صلاح وأخبر حمزة رفيعة بذلك، رغم أن لاعب مانشستر يونايتد لم يسجل هو الهدف.

حنبعل شارك لأول مرة مع مانشستر يونايتد في أبريل 2022، عندما دفع به المدرب رالف رانجنيك بدلًا من إيلانجا عندما كان الفريق متأخرًا أمام ليفربول 3/0، قبل أن يسجل محمد صلاح رابع أهداف الريدز وثاني أهدافه شخصيًا بعد دقيقة واحدة من دخول المجبري.

حنبعل صاحب الـ26 مباراة دولية مع منتخب تونس، لعب في كأس العالم وأمم إفريقيا، وفي بطولة كأس العرب كان له تصريح مثير ضد الفراعنة.

بعد الفوز على مصر وإقصاء الفراعنة من نصف نهائي كأس العرب، صرّح المجبري أنه يريد مواجهة المنتخب المصري مجددًا في تصفيات كأس العالم.

التصريح أثار الجدل في ذلك الوقت، ورد عليه العديد من الإعلاميين المصريين، وكذلك الإعلام التونسي الذي دافع عن لاعب مانشستر يونايتد حينها.
