Liverpool’s Dejan Lovren shares funny WhatsApp conversation with Mohamed Salah

The Croatian posted a WhatsApp conversation he and his teammate had after the winger mistakenly sent him the image that he would later upload on Instagram himself.

Lovren had a bit of a joke with the two-time Golden Boot winner as he claimed that he was flexing his muscles and breathing in to enhance his physique.

The centre-back certainly does have a point in his messages. Salah has no reason to be posing topless in mid-September as the weather in the north of England definitely doesn’t warrant stripping off.

Tottenham can see if Vedat Muriqi is good enough when Kosovo face England

[ad_pod ]

Turkish media outlet Sabah has claimed Fenerbahce striker Vedat Muriqi is attracting interest from Tottenham Hotspur, who are said to have watched him in action when he scored for Kosovo in their 2-1 Euro 2020 qualifying win against the Czech Republic on Saturday.

It was a continuation of an impressive start to the season for the 25-year-old, who only joined the Super Lig outfit from Caykur Rizespor during the summer transfer window.

The centre-forward has hit the ground running with the Turkish giants with two goals in three top flight appearances to date, with some eye-catching stats to boot.

According to WhoScored, he has averaged five shots per match and made 1.3 key passes – showing he is willing to get heavily involved in the final third.

As well as that, he has also won an average of four aerial duels to show he is willing to battle and put his body about – it is early days but it appears there is plenty to work with.

The fact that Spurs are actively scouting Muriqi suggests they see him as a potential back-up for Harry Kane in north London, with the England international once again having no senior competition for his striker’s spot in 2019/20 following the departures of Vincent Janssen and Fernando Llorente during the summer.

So, what better chance for Tottenham to see if the 25-year-old is actually good enough to make a big impact for them than on Tuesday night, when Kosovo face England at St Mary’s?

If he starts, the Fenerbahce attacker could come up against some experienced Premier League pros in Harry Maguire, Michael Keane and Joe Gomez, and it would be an early insight into how he would cope should he end up making the move to England given someone like Everton’s Cenk Tosun has largely struggled despite being prolific in Turkey.

Mixing it with those aforementioned centre-backs – and potentially getting the better of them too – would suggest that he could have a role to play with Spurs at some point in the future.

Over to you then, Vedat.

West Ham fans in mixed reaction to Javier Hernandez anniversary

[ad_pod ]

West Ham United fans have sent mixed messages to striker Javier Hernandez after the club commemorated the two-year anniversary of his signing.

The Mexico international joined the club in 2017 from Bayer Leverkusen for a fee of £16m.

He has gone on to make 61 appearances for the Irons, scoring 16 goals and registering four assists.

Football FanCast sources said at the start of the transfer window that Hernandez was regarded as expendable, though he is now likely to stay after Andy Carroll, Lucas Perez and Marko Arnautovic all left the club.

Sebastian Haller has arrived to replace the Austria international for a fee that sources claim totals an initial £45m with a potential £5m in add-ons and some fans believe that the former Manchester United striker could be a fine strike partner for the Frenchman, though others remain keen to see him depart the London Stadium.

Celtic fans react to links to Brentford’s Rico Henry

[ad_pod ]

Celtic fans aren’t sure what to think about links to Brentford left-back Rico Henry, as it could mean Kieran Tierney is on his way out of the club.

According to The Scottish Sun, Neil Lennon is looking at bringing Henry to Parkhead in a £7m deal if Arsenal sign Tierney before Thursday’s English transfer deadline.

Tierney is still a target for the Gunners, but the Celts haven’t accepted an offer for their 22-year-old yet, per the report.

At £7m Henry would become one of the club’s most expensive purchases ever, and he would also be the second big-money left-back signing for the club this summer.

With Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo brought in from Rapid Vienna for £3m, a deal for Henry would likely only happen if funds were generated from Tierney’s exit.

The reported £25m fee and freeing up room on the left-hand side would pave the way for the former Wallsall full-back to come to Celtic Park.

The Celtic fans are aware of this deal having ramifications on Tierney, so it’s no surprise to see a mixed reaction. Take a look at what they had to say on Twitter…

Tottenham Hotspur fans are desperate to sign Tanguy Ndombele

[ad_pod ]

Tottenham Hotspur supporters are growing anxious about the potential signing of Tanguy Ndombele, hoping that the club can get any deal for the player over the line as soon as possible.

The Guardian reported on Sunday that Spurs remain confident of signing the Lyon midfielder, despite Juventus trying to move in on the player and bring him to Serie A.

The paper say that the 22-year-old’s preferred move is to Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Should Spurs sell Kieran Trippier? Check out the for and against in the video below…

Ndombele is a four-cap international with France and operates as a defensively robust midfield enforcer with the Ligue 1 side.

If he signs he will likely compete with Moussa Sissoko and Harry Winks for a starting spot in Pochettino’s regular starting eleven, with Football Insider reporting that his arrival could spell the end for Victor Wanyama at the club.

Spurs fans would love to see him at the club and are frustrated by the drawn out nature of the potential deal, demanding that the club bring the player to London in short order.

Steve Gallen suggests Charlton have high expectations for Macauley Bonne

[ad_pod ]

Charlton completed their first business of the summer transfer window on Monday as they announced the signing of Macauley Bonne from Leyton Orient, with the red-hot striker having joined the Addicks for an undisclosed fee and on a three-year deal.

The jump from the fifth to the second tier shouldn’t be underestimated and there’s no guarantee that the 23-year-old will be able to replicate his recent goalscoring exploits going forward but that doesn’t mean expectations at SE7 aren’t high. Head of recruitment Steve Gallen has indicated that he may have a lot to live up to in Charlton red.

What did he say?

Well, speaking about the new addition whom he has had an eye on for two years, Gallen said:

“Macauley’s been part of the team that won the National League, and he’s scored a lot of goals and as I say he’s someone who we’ve been watching for a while. The manager and I talked about him in January as a potential replacement for Karlan (Grant) at that stage to see if we could do it. We couldn’t at that stage, but we’re now really pleased to get him.”

Gallen admits that Bonne has been on their radar ‘for a while’ so they will be undoubtedly pleased to have finally got him through the door, but can he match the output of Grant?

Bonne chance

Grant departed The Valley in January when Huddersfield came calling for his services and left Charlton with a lot to do in the second half of the season without his goals – the speedster had notched 14 already by that point.

Lionel Messis have been spotted at The Valley, Boundary Park and even in Wales in the video below…

Fortunately for the Addicks, Lyle Taylor’s form and a stellar run-in saw Lee Bowyer’s side reach Wembley, where they would go on to beat Sunderland in dramatic fashion, thus sealing their promotion to the Championship.

With Igor Vetokele released, it was clear Charlton needed a striker to line up alongside Taylor next term and, having netted 23 times for the O’s last season, Bonne could prove a shrewd signing – but can he match Grant, as Gallen and Bowyer surely hoped he might when they looked as him as a replacement for the Englishman five months ago?

Only time will tell, but it definitely won’t be easy.

Spurs fans split over Alderweireld update

[ad_pod ]

Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld has claimed that he expects to stay at the club this summer, per Sport360 via the London Evening Standard, leaving fans with mixed feelings.

The defender has a £25million release clause in his contract that can be activated this summer.

With his current deal expiring at the end of next season, there has been much discussion over his future, with many Spurs fans expecting him to depart in this transfer window.

But he has now hinted that he could still be a Tottenham player in 2019-20.

He said: “I’m going to say the same thing that I’ve been saying for the past couple of years.

“The only focus is Spurs, because of this focus I think I had a good season as well. I have one year left on my contract, so in my head, I will play for Spurs next season.”

Alderweireld has played a key role in Spurs’ season, making 49 appearances in all competitions as Mauricio Pochettino’s men finished in the Premier League top four and reached the Champions League final.

He will likely bring up the half-century on Saturday in Madrid, when Spurs take on Liverpool as they bid to win the trophy for the first time in their history.

But fans remain split over whether or not he will stay at the club; with some believing he will simply leave on a free transfer next summer and others believing it is a sign that he intends to extend his current contract.

Ole Out! Man United fans want Massimiliano Allegri to replace Solskjaer

[ad_pod ]

Manchester United fans on Twitter have called for Massimiliano Allegri to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after it was revealed that the Italian would be leaving Juventus this summer after five years at the club.

The Red Devils only recently handed Solskjaer a three-year contract back in March, a decision which looked to have been made prematurely as United won just two games since he put pen to paper.

One point separated City and Liverpool but twenty-five separated them from the rest! Fans discuss who could reduce the deficit next season in the video below?

Allegri is a manager of real pedigree, having won the Serie A title on six occasions whilst also winning the Coppa Italia four times.

Solskjaer, by comparison, has won the league title in Norway as well as some trophies with the United Reserves side.

The two managers really are incomparable in terms of accomplishments.

However, it is truly absurd for the United fans to want Solskjaer out already, due to the fact that the former Cardiff boss has been in the job for less than two months – calls for him to leave are extremely harsh.

Due to their awful run of form since his appointment on a permanent basis, a number of United fans on Twitter have called for Solskjaer to be given the axe after just two months in charge and want Allegri instead.

Here’s what the fans have had to say about their links with Allegri…
